Detention Equipment & Accessories
PSI manufactures the detention equipment necessary to outfit a jail cell. These items include: safety mirrors, grab bars, and toilet paper holders. All detention equipment, like the rest of PSI’s high-quality detention equipment, are made of the strongest materials and fastened with durable, tamper-resistant hardware.
The stainless steel detention mirror comes in two sizes, 10” by 11 ½” and 12 ½” by 16 ½”. The frame measures 1 1/16” wide by 5/16” deep, and is made of 16-gauge stamped, cold-rolled steel, finished with a satin chrome plate. The prison mirror plate is 20-gauge type 304 stainless steel, polished to a #8 mirror quality reflective finish. Tamper-resistant security screws attach the safety mirror to the wall or mount plate.
PSI’s four-hook safety strip has a 7-gauge steel body, and measures 6” wide by 5 ½” high. The hooks are made from 10-gauge formed steel brackets, with 7-gauge stamped steel hooks, and two neoprene friction washers. These allow the hooks to hold clothing, but collapse under heavier weight, such as that of a body. The strip is chemically degreased and finished with a coat of rust-inhibitive primer; the hooks have zinc plating. Tamper-resistant security screws fasten the hook strip to the wall or plate. PSI also offers the option of a single collapsible safety hook. The hook is made from 7-gauge stamped steel, with a 10-gauge formed steel bracket, and two mounting holes for the body.
The larger ball socket four-hook safety strip measures 18” wide by 4” high by 1” deep. The body is made from 14-gauge stainless steel, and the hooks are stainless steel ball-in-socket, fastened from behind with an adjustable plate. The strip is finished to a uniform #4 polished stainless steel, and is fastened with tamper-resistant security screws.
The high security handicap grab bar is a piece of detention equipment that can fit any jail or prison cell with a number of lengths: 12”, 18”, 24”, 30”, 36”, 42”, 48” and 54”. There are also L-shapes available. Each grab bar is 1 ½” in diameter, made from 18-gauge stainless steel tubing, with the ends rolled to hold the bar. When installed, the safety grab bar rests 1 ½” inches from the wall. Brackets are 3” in diameter, and formed from 10-gauge stainless steel. They are welded at each end of the grab bar. The safety grab bar also includes a 10-gauge stainless steel enclosure plate, which runs the entire underside of the bar. PSI’s safety grab bars screw into the wall with button-head, tamper-resistant security screws.
Recessed stainless steel shelving is an important piece of detention equipment as it adds an important storage compartment to detention facilities. The shelf body measures 16” wide by 5” high by 4” deep, and is made from 14-gauge, type 304 stainless steel. For wall anchorage, weld nuts are welded to the back side of the body, and a threaded rod is sized to extend 1” from the back side of the wall. PSI also offers the option of anchoring the recessed stainless steel shelf by casting it into concrete.
Toilet paper holders are necessary pieces of equipment for detention cells. PSI’s recessed stainless steel toilet paper holder is manufactured with type 304, 14-gauge stamped stainless steel. The holder measures 5 ½” wide by 4 5/16” deep, with a ¾” flange and perimeter. Fastening the holder to its surface are weld nuts welded to the back side of the can, along with a threaded rod, sized to extend 1” from the back side of the wall. The accessory is also supported by a 7-gauge, 1 ½” by 8” steel back bar. The face of the recessed toilet paper holder has a #4 stainless steel finish, with a satin finish on the inside.
