The food pass door itself is made from 10-gauge flat steel, with a 7-gauge reinforcement plate. The 7-gauge steel frame is 2” wide, with all four sides cut and notched at each corner to create square corners, and four 3/8” mounting holes. Standard hinges on the PSI food pass door are two 3” by 3” 10-gauge steel butt hinges, with non-removable pins and 90-degree hold-open brackets. For the locking mechanism, this piece of prison cafeteria equipment comes prepped for a detention deadbolt lock, with a concealed bolt receiver. The food pass door is finished with a chemical degreaser and one coat of rust-inhibitive primer.
PSI’s food pass door comes in a standard size, to fit a 5” by 15” opening, but custom sizes are available. In addition to custom sizes, the food pass door has an anchorage option, with 3/8” holes for mounting with security screws. PSI also offers other hinge choices, such as continuous piano hinges or 3” by 3” detention hinges.
PSI offers a food pass retrofit to mount into a hole cut into an existing cell door. It consists of A Z part frame that encapsulates the opening, 10 GA steel door with 7 GA reinforcing plate, standard food pass hinges & prepped for detention food pass lock, or finger pull.
